  • I joined Goodall Brazier’s Heavy Civil Construction Division in July 2021, immediately after graduating from Leeds Beckett University with a 1st Class B.A Hons. Since being part of the team, I have made several large placements alongside establishing strong client relationships. Going into 2022, I will continue to map out the Heavy Civil market with the view to progress into a managerial role, less than a year after my beginning.

    What do I enjoy about working for Goodall Brazier?

    I very much enjoy the thriving work environment/ culture of Goodall Brazier. Everybody in the room is extremely receptive and enjoys spending time with each-other both inside and outside of work, particularly at end of periods. In addition, I find the financial incentives and growth potential of the job incredibly motivating.

    Biggest challenge working at Goodall Brazier?

    When I first began, it was sometimes challenging to establish a technique of how to speak to clients and candidates on the phone. However, by practicing and listening to others in the room it does not take long to feel confident.

    Advice given to any graduates joining Goodall Brazier/ Starting recruitment?

    My best piece of advice is to not stop at the first hurdle by letting setbacks affect you. Success comes from continually learning from the process and perfecting your approach.

  • I initially joined Goodall Brazier as a Graduate, after achieving a 1st Class B.A. Hons from University of Leeds. I started as part of the Heavy Civil Team and progressed within one year to a Managing Consultant position. After another successful year, I have taken on a Division Manager role, growing my team to 5 Consultants, managing the entire Heavy Civil Division as well as expanding into Water Treatment and Renewable Energy.

    What do I enjoy about working for Goodall Brazier?

    I particularly enjoy the direct relationship between work and results at Goodall Brazier. If I work hard and succeed, it is easy to see and quickly leads to professional and financial incentives. Having your own success so clearly in your control is not only rare but a great opportunity.

    Biggest challenge I faced at Goodall Brazier?

    The biggest challenge I faced was initially getting to grips with the full recruitment process. A complex and varying approach is needed to succeed with Executive Search; with vacancy, client and position having its own challenges and nuances.

    Advice given to any graduate joining Goodall Brazier/starting in recruitment?

    The best advice I could give a new graduate entering the recruitment industry is to be open minded to advice and opportunities to learn. My biggest leaps forward have come from learning experiences with Managers and Colleagues who have given me insight into new ways to approach and tackle problems.

  • I started my career with Goodall Brazier at the back end 2020, after graduating in Business Management with a 2:1 B.A. Hons from the University of Northumbria. I entered the Heavy Civil Team and achieved my first fee 5 weeks after joining, just over a year down the line I’ve made numerous placements and been promoted to Managing Consultant.

    What do I enjoy about working for Goodall Brazier?

    What I enjoy most about Goodall Brazier is the opportunities to grow, both professionally and financially. While it does take hard work and dedication to succeed, these efforts do not go unnoticed. Additionally, being surrounded by likeminded individuals who are all striving for success creates a motivating and enjoyable environment, not to mention the countless incentives and rewards.

    Biggest challenge I faced at Goodall Brazier?

    The biggest challenge I faced was understanding that things don’t always go your way when balancing vacancies, clients and candidates. A resilient approach to recruitment is crucial, it’s taught me to keep pushing when times are hard and the results are even more rewarding.

    Advice given to any graduate joining Goodall Brazier/starting in recruitment?
    My advice to someone looking to start in recruitment is work hard, pay attention to your manager and be open to setbacks. The learnings are invaluable, my skill set and ability to overcome challenges has improved massively. Most importantly though, your success will be a direct result of your activity.

 
 
  • I joined Goodall Brazier as a placement student whilst studying Environment & Business at the University of Leeds. My first role was as a Resourcer in the Civil Engineering division, with a focus on candidates from Project Engineer up to Project Management level. After a number of successful placements, I progressed into a full Senior Consultant position, taking on more responsibility and also operating in the US Construction sector.

    After completing my degree, I returned to Goodall Brazier and have since advanced to be one of the Division Managers, leading teams in US Construction, and the CRO/CDMO market in Life Sciences.

    What do I enjoy about working for Goodall Brazier?

    The thing I enjoy most about working at Goodall Brazier is the clear career path offered: it doesn’t matter how long you’ve been there, if you get the right results, you will be correctly rewarded with promotions up into management.

    Biggest challenge I faced at Goodall Brazier?

    The biggest challenge I faced was understanding the complex nature of the US construction market. As I was not from a construction background, it took some time to get my head around the structure, but with help from my fellow consultants and speaking with candidates, I was able to gain a rounded view of the industry and develop a strong network with candidates and clients.

    Advice given to any graduate joining Goodall Brazier/starting in recruitment?

    The best advice I could give a new graduate entering the recruitment industry is to be patient. There is a lot to learn at the start and it is easy to feel knocked back when seeing other people excelling. However, through perseverance and learning from those around you, success will follow.

  • I joined Goodall Brazier as a Graduate Consultant having achieved an MSc in Chemical Biology from the University of Leeds. I focused initially on building up the CMC/Technical Operations market from scratch and further branched into Regulatory Affairs. I was quickly promoted, first to Senior Consultant and then Managing Consultant, after a very successful year. I now head up the Technical Operations team at GB.

    What do I enjoy about working at Goodall Brazier?

    I like that there is no glass ceiling to prevent growth here. If you work hard you see results - the sky is your limit. Regardless of your age or how long you’ve worked here, everyone has an equal opportunity to succeed at their own pace.

    Biggest challenge I faced?

    My biggest challenge was the transition from university to full-time professional work; getting to grips with full-time hours, sustaining a consistent high-level of effort, and learning an entirely new role from scratch.

    Advice given to any graduate joining Goodall Brazier/Recruitment?

    Listen to and absorb advice from your managers and colleagues, but ensure you are putting your own individual flare on every aspect of the job.
